I love a good trail mix – and I most often prefer to combine my own different mixes myself.
At the moment this combination is my favorite! It contains my favorites like unsalted cashews-, almonds- and pistachios sprinkled with raisins and chocolate chips.
Nuts are well known to be packed with a lot of protein, fibre and essential fats. They are a great resource of valuable vitamins and minerals. A golf ball-sized portion (about 30g) of unsalted nuts makes a great vitality-boosting snack, so don’t feel guilty grabbing a handful of your own homemade trail mix when you are on the go next time, or just crave a snack.
In my family we tend to eat too many unhealthy snacks if we didn’t prepare ourselves for a craving.
Especially the hours after pick up from schools, when grocery shopping in the afternoons, at sports activities or in homework situations this trail mix comes in handy. Only a small handful of this trail mix will make sure the blood sugar stays in level and mood remains high.
To begin with I like the process of picking my favorite nuts myself.
There’s always one or two ingredients in the pre-made ones, that I prefer less. Do you feel the same?
It is weird, but I love peanuts, a lot, but I only like to eat them plain and not mixed in with other nuts. Peanuts needs to be enjoyed plain if you ask me. That is also a good reason to make your own trail mix. To make sure they contain no peanuts. Haha..
This following mix is one of my favorite ones. A perfect blend of all my favorites!
Trail Mix
Making your own trail mix is the most easiest thing in the world and requires nothing but a container or jar or a simple zip lock bag.
First you simply just combine your favorites in a bowl.
Then you give it a good shake.
And finally you store it in something air tight.
Enjoy!
Uhmmm :O)
