I’m just so tired of the store bought versions of Tomato Salsa!
Every time I buy it, I really believe that this time it will taste so much better than the previously – but every time I end up disappointed and with a very watery non-tasting boring kind of “salsa”.
Interesting enough, it is actually very, very VERY easy to make your own homemade tomato salsa – and the taste is so much more satisfying!!
It’s actually so easy, that it’s a bit ridiculous to come up with an excuse why NOT to make it yourself next time!
This version takes only a few minutes to mix together (you know that I love that!!😉) and the taste is not only better, but you will also feel so much better with yourself, knowing exactly how t it was made!
And it’s also nice to be able to adjust the taste the way YOU exactly like it, right?
Tomato Salsa
Ingredients:
1 can of tomato sauce
1/4 red onion (finely chopped)
1/2 lime (juice)
1/2 cup of fresh (finely chopped) cilantro
1/4 teaspoon cumin
5 whole tomatoes
1 teaspoon sambal oelek
1 pinch of suger, salt and pepper.
First, start by mixing all the ingredients (except the tomatoes!) in a bowl with a spoon.
Remove the seeds from the fresh tomatoes, cut them into very small pieces and mix them with the rest of the salsa.
Taste if you need to adjust with more cumin, sambal oelek etc.
Enjoy!!
– alone as a dip with nachos and a nice homemade guacamole…
– make a big portion of heated nachos with cheese, chicken, guacamole cream cheese, beans and tomato salsa…
– or make your own burritos loaded with meat, rice, beans, lettuce, guac and this wonderful tomato salsa…
Life is good!
