Let us talk about maple syrup with walnuts. Because I’m the type of person you can make really happy, just by serving me a piece of homemade bread with a good piece of cheese.
Then of course a nice blanket, a cup of tea and a good stack of old magazines! Ahh.. Now, I’m in heaven!
Ok, let’s get back to reality.
I was speaking about cheese. Depending on what I’m in the mood for, I mostly like to eat my cheese with cucumber slices, bell-peppers, fresh slices of tomatoes, a nice pesto or with different homemade jam or marmalades. However, if I host a brunch or have guests over, I like to step it up and serve the cheese with this syrup with roughly chopped walnuts!
Try it yourself, and be amazed!! It’s both sweet and kinda crunchy from the nuts. I love that combination.
When I worked as a nurse in Denmark, I liked to bring this syrup for the weekly morning meetings, where we also started the mornings with some fresh baked bread from the bakery close by. The jar was always empty by the end of the day. And it became a traditions to bring it. That is for me, a proof of the power of homemade happiness.
You should try it too!
This walnut syrup is also a great gift for a dear friend, if you are invited over for a drink in a short notice.
I finally suggest that you also try and serve this walnut syrup over pancakes or waffles. That’s a sweet Sunday treat.
