Fastelavns buns or boller comes in a lot of different versions but they are always covered with icing and always filled with some kind of custard or jam inside.
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons sugar (try using homemade vanilla sugar)
1 stick of butter (4 oz or ½ cup)
1 egg (+ 1 egg for brushing)
2 ¾ cup of flour
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon sugar (or your homemade vanilla sugar)
1 tablespoon corn flour
2 cups of milk or cream
Filling: custard, jam, nutella, marzipan or even chocolate chips.
