These small crochet hearts are like magic, and done in less than 5 minutes!
Magic or not, you’ll use the easy “magic circle” to make them. I’ll show you how easy it is.
However, the Big Day of Love, Valentine’s Day is around the corner. Piles of heart-shaped glitter cards, flowers and chocolates are sent to loved ones all around the world. And what’s not to love about that tradition?!
I love the concept of reminding the ones you love, with a little affectionate greeting. And when it’s homemade it melts my heart.
If you would like to give a heart to the one you love, you can crochet a little magical one in under 5 minutes!
The crochet hearts can also be used as decorations on small cards, as ornaments, or as a little detail on for example hats or headbands.
The heart only requires you to know 4 knots:
ch (chain), dc (double crochet), dtr (treble crochet), and a sl st (slip stitch) to end your work.
I used 8/4 100% cotton yarn and a Hook
size 4 (G).
DIY Crochet heart – pure magic
To make the magic heart you have to start by making “the magic circle”.
Once you master the magic circle (which can be tricky in the beginning) the heart will be done in a few minutes, by pulling both ends of the thread. When pulling the ends the magic happens and a heart will appear!!
Try it!!
Magic circle:
Start by making a loop, a few inches from the end of your yarn.
Then you insert the crochet hook into the loop, from front to back.
Now you draw up a loop
And this is “the magic circle”. You did it!!
From here you continue.
You have to make sure you always crochet around the circle AND the tail – aka both!
Now you crochet 3 ch, 3 dtr, 3 dc, 1 ch, 1 dtr, 1 ch, 3 dc, 3 str, 3 ch and end it by making a sl st in the ring.
Finally its time to pull both ends of the thread gently – and like magic, your heart will appear!
Thats it!! Don’t you think it’s cool?
I hope you’ll have fun creating a lot of diy crochet hearts for your Valentines!
XOXO!
