There is nothing better then enjoying a nice fresh baked batch of Classic Scones together with a warm cup of tea – and perhaps also some fresh made raspberry jam? :o)
Scones are baked with baking powder that makes them super fast to mix together and bake. That can be nice and convenient if you don’t have yeast in the house (or the time to wait for the dough to rise!)
The dough is smooth and easy to work with, so you can easily involve your kids.
Classic Scones
Ingredients: (makes 12)
2,5 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1,5 stick butter
0,5 cup milk
+1 egg (for brushing)
Mix flour, baking powder and salt with cold butter and milk.
In the beginning the dough looks like it doesn’t stick together, but keep mixing a few minutes and it will end up nice and smooth.
Roll the dough out into 0,5 inch thick.
Use a Plain Round Cutter to pinch out the scones.
Brush with a beaten egg.
Bake for 15 minutes in a 400 degree Fahrenheit warm oven.
Serve with ice cold butter and fresh made jam.
Scones taste best the same day.
Enjoy
These look delicious!! I think I would throw down about 12 of those right now 🙂
Me too ;o)
– and if it isn’t enough, a new batch can be made in a split second!
