Try serving this beautiful Apple chutney with Ginger, Walnuts and Raisins next time you serve cheese – as a welcome snack, dessert or brunch.
– This chutney will turn out just as good if it is made with Pears instead!
Ingredients:
3 Apples/or Pears
2 inches fresh Ginger
1 red Chili
Juice and zest of 1 Orange
1/3 cup Maple Syrup
1/2 cup Walnuts
1/3 cup Raisins
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
Peel the Apple/Pear and Ginger and cut it into fine pieces
Clean the Chili and cut into slices
Mix Chili, Ginger, Maple Syrup, Cinnamon, juice and grated Orange peel in a saucepan and heat until it is boiling.
Add the peeled Apples/Pears in small cubes and bring to a boil again – about 5 min.
Pour into a glass with a tight lid and cool completely.
(it will thicken up a bit when cooled down)
Store in the fridge for a few weeks.
Serve with Homebaked Baguettes, Stone Age Bread or Crispbreads and lots of wonderful cheeses. Uhmm: o)
Enjoy!!!
