I’m just so tired of the store bought versions of Tomato Salsa!
Every time I buy it, I really believe that this time it will taste so much better than the previously – but every time I end up disappointed and with a very watery non-tasting boring kind of “salsa”.
And the crazy thing is, that it’s actually very, very VERY easy to make yourself – and the taste is so much more satisfying!!
It’s actually so easy, that it’s a bit ridiculous to come up with an excuse why NOT to make it yourself next time!
This version takes only a few minutes to mix together (you know that I love that!!😉) and the taste is not only better, but you will also feel so much better with yourself, knowing how and with what it was made! And it’s also nice to be able to adjust the taste the way YOU exactly like it, right?
1 can of tomato sauce
1/4 red onion (finely chopped)
1/2 lime (juice)
1/2 cup of fresh (finely chopped) cilantro
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon sambal oelek
1 pinch of suger, salt and pepper.
Mix all the ingredients (except the tomatoes!) in a bowl with a spoon
Remove the seeds from the fresh tomatoes, cut them into very small pieces and mix them with the rest of the salsa.
Taste if you need to adjust with more cumin, sambal oelek etc.
– alone as a dip with nachos and a nice homemade guacamole…
Life is good!
