When it is summer, it is time for koldskål or a bowl of sweet buttermilk with Nilla Wafers.
In my family we (mostly) had this as a dessert, but since it’s the kids and my summer favorite, we can easily eat it as an easy kind of dinner instead 😜
I know there’s a lot of tradition linked to this dish, but for generations my family has made it like this. Not with lemon, not with egg white foam, not with whipped cream etc.
Just simple – like this.
Which of course is the best way too 😉
KOLDSKÅL OR SWEET BUTTERMILK BOWL
Ingredients: (serves 4)
2/3 cup of pasteurized real egg
1/2 cup of sugar (or use homemade vanilla sugar!)
1 liter of buttermilk
beans from 1/2 vanilla pod (if you don’t use vanilla sugar)
Mix sugar (and vanilla) and real egg until white and fluffy.
Add the buttermilk.
Serve immediately with Nilla Wafers or Cornflakes
